Emergency Warning SystemAs of January 2009 more than 42,000 people signed up to use our services, and membership is still growing thanks to "Power In Numbers".
Whether you're a paid member or a free member of You Be Aware without a doubt, our warning system is one of the most important services we offer. By now you have had the opportunity to review our web site, and you know the original concept for the company was to provide warnings to people about natural disasters and emergency situations.
What most people don't realize when there is an emergency or disaster in their area is that they often lose contact with the outside world. For example, power lines get knocked down causing a loss of electricity in the house. No TV or Internet, and if radio towers get knocked down, it stops the radio stations from reaching out to notify you of the emergencies.
Even cell phone towers get blown down in hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes. However, what many people don't realize is that a conventional home phone does not need power to operate, it just needs to be connected to the telephone outlet. Of course, please make sure your phone doesn't need power to operate. Even though it may have batteries it may still need to be connected to a power outlet.
Our service is really easy to use. When becoming a member you provide us with one or more phone numbers, and an e-mail address so we can contact you in reference to any kind of emergency. You are able to add or change your numbers at any time by visiting your members login page. Once you have updated your contact information, this is where we would contact you regarding a disaster or emergency.
How Does it Work?
Let's use the example of a tornado heading in your direction. You Be Aware has relationships with many different notification centers across the country, for example the National Weather Center. Once we have been notified that a disaster is about to take place we immediately make a phone call to the numbers that you have given us and contact you through your e-mail. This means that if you are in transit or do not have your TV or radio on, you would still be notified immediately as to the type of emergency.
If there was an earthquake, which obviously gives little or no warning that they are about to take place, you'll be contacted immediately after we are notified to inform you of the emergency status. We provide information like; where the emergency services are and what they are doing, and of course give locations of services like Red Cross in your area to aid you.
So, even if you are traveling or do not have your TV or radio on, you would still be notified immediately of what the emergency is.
As we all know, hurricanes can be very dangerous and destructive. But, if there was one fortunate aspect of hurricanes, it is that they give you the opportunity to make your evacuation plans and get to safe areas away from the eye of the storm. By using our warning system you'll be notified 72 hours before landfall and all the way through the storm, including the hours after the storm has passed by.
- First contact 72 hours prior to landfall.
- Second contact 48 hours prior to landfall.
- Third contact 24 hours prior to landfall.
- Forth contact 12 hours prior to landfall.
At this time your notifications will start coming on a more regular basis to make sure you have the information you need like evacuation routes, available gas stations, roadblocks, bridges that are closed, supply's that you will need and emergency hurricane Centers where you will be able to go for shelter.
Over the next 12 hours prior to the eye of the storm passing you we will be contacting you on an hourly basis to give you updates on where and what is taking place with the storm.
Many people don't realize that most of damage occurs from hurricanes when the storm has already gone past and the winds are now in a different direction. With trees being weakened, and the ground saturated from the rain, when the wind changes direction it uproots trees, telephone poles, cell phone towers and rips the roofs off of homes.
We will be contacting you after the storm has passed, beginning hourly for a minimum of 12 hours. We would then start contacting you as needed to make sure you are updated with all the information you need like, Red Cross stations, emergency centers, and FEMA office.
You cannot put a price on a service like this, but it often has been suggested by our members that we should charge a monthly fee for our warning system. You Be Aware is committed to offer this service free to all its members for as long as we possibly can. As long as we have some Valued members, Premier members and Elite members we hope to always be able to offer this service to all members, to help them in their emergencies.
So please tell your friends and family to become a member of You Be Aware. It's FREE, so they have nothing to lose. You only pay for the benefits and services that you need. If they want to become one of our paid members and take advantage of our premium services and workshops, you will receive a $100 referral fee. Pass the word along, "Power In Numbers" makes a difference.
Check out the rest of our service that you might need.
