What's Happened in 2008The year 2008 will likely be recorded in American history as the greatest change in the fabric of our nation since 1776. We have had many dramatic events that have shaped the direction of our country. The Civil War, the market crash of 1929, World War II, the introduction of personal computers and the Internet, and others have radically altered our lives and direction as a nation.
It will be years before we can properly evaluate the impact of the changes we have witnessed in 2008, but consider the following; We are experiencing the greatest economic crisis in our history. The stock market, housing, commercial real estate, auto industry, banking, medical care, small business, etc. etc. are experiencing massive losses. The federal government now owns and/or controls major banks, automobile companies, mortgage lenders, and other core industries. The US Comptroller has declared our nation "bankrupt". The only thing keeping us afloat at this point is the Government printing money and pumping "Trillions" of dollars into the economy. We are now dependent on foreign governments (like China) to buy our debt to keep our economy alive.
Government control is increasing at an exponential rate as our leaders rush to nationalize health care and take on the role of "big brother" in every aspect of American life. High unemployment and uncontrolled consumer debt is generating unprecedented levels of bankruptcy and foreclosure. If any of this scares you, it should! No one yet knows how this is all going to turn out. At the same time, we live in an age of information overload and it is very difficult to make sense of all the conflicting viewpoints. This is precisely why you should become a member of You Be Aware.
While YBA can't answer every question or deal with every problem, we are on the cutting edge of the large issues most likely to affect your family. First of all, our team of researchers cuts through the "information overload" to focus on the key issues most likely to affect our members. Additionally, we use the "power of numbers" in our growing membership as leverage to advocate for change that will actually benefit our members. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we provide the education, materials, and relationships to empower our members to help themselves.
As we face an uncertain future in our country and the world at large, YBA will be here to help our members make the most of the difficult issues we will face.
