2009 Helping Others

Despite bail-out money being given to banks and banks being encouraged to restructure mortgages there appears to be no recovery in sight. This is especially hard for those that are in foreclosure or face financial hardship. In Florida alone, there is currently more than half a million homes in foreclosure or pre-foreclosure and despite a lot of rhetoric, little is being done to solve the crisis.

Homeowners need help and good advice and YBA has provided its members with the latest information on foreclosure and connected our members with the help that is available. You do have rights even if you are in foreclosure and at the very least you should be aware of what those rights are and how you protect them. We have been able to help members take a fresh look at their mortgage documents and discover whether they were a victim of predatory lending or even if their lender broke the law when arranging their mortgage.

When requested we referred our members to a law firm to provide them with good legal advice and to ensure that they knew what their rights are and how to exercise them. In addition we have kept members up to date with government initiatives and legislation and guided them through the maze of scam services offered by the myriad of companies who wish to take advantage of those most vulnerable.

We have been proud to be able to offer advice and information to thousands of consumers through our workshops and help them to improve their personal situation through education.
